Many people hold themselves back from being influential because they don’t give themselves permission to be influential.
So, how do you know if this is you?
When you leave a meeting or finish a conversation, listen to your internal chatter. What are your thoughts saying to you? What are you thinking about the performance you just gave? Are you berating yourself? Are you talking yourself down? If you’re listening to negative self-talk, is it a valid accusation to be levelling at yourself?
There is a flip side; are you talking yourself up? Once again, if you are, is that a valid critique and understanding of what has happened?
It is these thoughts that will give you a great insight into how much permission you give yourself to be influential.
